Victoria University Canoe Club

It's that time again! The weather is warming up, the rivers get more inviting, we meet for BBQs and Lyall Bay surfing sessions, and the pool nights are cancelled until Autumn!

It's also time to get planning for Christmas/New Year's holiday paddling! There is always a fun group of people hanging around Murchison for this time period, carving up the Buller and adjacent rivers, and dreaming about 'the Coast'!

Send us an email, get added to the VUCC GoogleGroups email list (if you're not on it already), and get involved! LOTS of fun stuff will be planned for the Thursday evening club time-slot...throwbagging practice, safety skills sessions, technique workshops on the harbour, picnics on Ward Island, etc. If you have ideas, put them out there! Let's GET PADDLING, people!

Well it was an awesome day, with 23 competitors showing up, despite the weather looking worse for wear!

VUCC is a kayak & canoe club based at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, but is open to everyone, students and non-students alike.

We are primarily a whitewater kayak club, with the Hutt Gorge our local run and Lyall Bay our local surf spot.  If you feel like giving whitewater kayaking a go, either drop down to Freyberg Pool during the university year where we run a weekly pool session (Thursday, 8:30pm at Freyberg swimming pool on Oriental Parade), or during the summer months we are out and about enjoying the sunshine.  So best to contact one of the club's committee, or email the VUCC Administrator!
